So how does work related burnout happen?

Work related burnout is a type of work-related stress – it is a state of physical or emotional exhaustion. Burnout has finally been recognized as a medical condition by the World Health Organisation. Burnout is more than just being stressed as it evolves after your body has been ‘functioning’ with chronic stress over a very long period of time. This can be work related or personal or a combination of both and burnout can present as anxiety, depression or adrenal dysfunction.

I have a few clients that are school teachers along with my eldest daughter - now that is definitely a Profession that can cause serious Burnout! So I can certainly understand the behind the scenes causes and can implement a wonderful personalised treatment plan for you.

  • Protein
  • Good fats
  • Bone broth
  • Fresh fruits
  • Fresh vegetables
  • Fermented foods
  • Grains
  • Reduce caffeine, alcohol and anything highly processed as these will only keep your body inflamed which will continue to feed your symptoms of burnout.

Lifestyle Tips for Self Care

  • Schedule in some ‘me time’ each week
  • Eat a healthy breakfast each day
  • Take breaks throughout the day - especially if you work from home
  • Keep hydrated - with water or herbal tea not several cups of coffee or alcohol
  • Exercise - find one or two that you enjoy
  • Ask for help - you can't do it all!
  • Leave a toxic workplace or relationship
  • Take your annual leave - this is important for your mental wellbeing
